World beat

For those looking for some international flavor this weekend, Celtic Thunder brings its theatrical show of traditional music and dance to the Northwest suburbs.

8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the Rosemont Theatre, 5400 N. River Road, Rosemont. $37.50-$57.50. Go to ticketmaster.com or call (800) 745-3000 to charge by phone.

Bands helping out

Members of the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, an indie pop band on the local Bloodshot Records label, were hurt in a serious car accident last month. The crash destroyed the band's equipment and put two members in the hospital for prolonged stays. To help with medical and equipment costs, a benefit concert will be held Saturday, featuring performances from New Duncan Imperials, Canasta and others. (A second benefit will be held on Nov. 12.)

8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave., Chicago. $10. Tickets available via Subterranean's Web site, subt.net.

Life after Bush

Though he's known now primarily as Mr. Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale is no slouch, music-wise. He's the former lead singer of Bush, a British grunge outfit that hit it big in the post-Nirvana alternative era. (He also led the short-lived band Institute.) Rossdale is out on a solo tour, which makes a stop in Libertyville next week.

8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. Gavin Rossdale will perform with the Lovehammers and Jimi Falls at Austin's Fuel Room, 481 Peterson Road, Libertyville. $27-$80. Tickets available at the box office or via fuelroom.com.
