Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes' campaign for governor received a boost Sunday, when he received the endorsement of two Democratic committeewomen.
The endorsement by Palatine Township Committeewoman Sue Walton and Wheeling Township Committeewoman Kathleen Sances was announced in Palatine at the annual picnic of the Palatine and Wheeling Democrats, held at Twin Lakes Recreation Center.
"Dan Hynes has presented a coherent plan for a budget that cuts unnecessary government spending yet maintains funding for essential services. He is asking the state government to make the same hard choices that Illinois business owners have had to make in this difficult economic downturn," Sances said.
Walton said she has supported Hynes since 2003.
"Dan Hynes was the only one to stand up to both Governors George Ryan and Rod Blagojevich for their mismanagement and irresponsible budgeting," Walton said. "He knows how to solve the budget crisis and move our state forward."
Walton has served as Palatine Township Democratic Committeewoman for eight years. Sances was appointed to her position in April 2008.
