A medical condition, and not crash injuries, likely caused the death of a 48-year-old Hampshire woman pronounced dead shortly after a rollover accident in Elgin Monday afternoon, authorities said today.

Wendy Harrison, 48, died shortly after Elgin police were called to westbound Big Timber Road, east of Tyrrell Road, at 4:10 p.m. Monday and found her 2004 Chevrolet Impala on its roof.

An autopsy performed today indicated that Harrison, the vehicle's only occupant, likely died as a result of some combination of medical problems, Kane County Coroner Chuck West said.

"Her medical conditions caused the accident," he said. "She had a ton of medical conditions." Harrison was on dialysis for kidney problems and had a seizure disorder, West said.

Elgin police said the car was at a point where the road curved slightly to the left around a small hill and the surface was dry.

The vehicle struck two trees and went sliding on its roof two houses down from where the crash started, Elgin police Sgt. Matt Udelhoven said.

It appeared that Harrison was not wearing a seat belt, Udelhoven said, and did not brake her car before the crash.

Authorities hope toxicology tests done today and will provide more clues to the cause of her death.
