A 6-year-old girl was killed and six other people were injured, including a 1-year-old girl, in a multi-vehicle crash Friday afternoon near Huntley.

A minivan driving north on Route 47 lost control and was hit broadside by a southbound semitrailer truck. The collision happened near Foster and Conley roads at around 2:30 p.m. according to the McHenry County Sheriff's department.

All of the people injured in the crash were from the minivan.

The 6-year-old girl, identified as Deann Ramirez of Woodstock, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 10-year-old boy is in good condition, as is the male driver of the van. Two women are also in good condition, but the 1-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man remain in critical condition, according to Lt. Tim Flannigan of the Huntley Fire Department.

The accident is still under investigation. McHenry County sheriff's Lt. Don Carlson said weather might have played a role in the accident.
