A Sycamore man who was drunk when he passed out with his foot on the brake pedal of a running vehicle has been sentenced to six years in prison, officials said Wednesday.
Danny C. Hansen, 51, was convicted of aggravated driving under the influence and aggravated driving while license revoked Sept. 8 by a Kane County jury. He must serve at least 50 percent of the sentence handed down late Tuesday by Associate Judge Leonard J. Wojtecki.
About 10:15 p.m. Nov. 21, 2007, a sheriff's deputy found Hansen asleep at the wheel of a 1989 Dodge Caravan in the northbound lane of Burlington Road, west of Ellithorpe Road, in unincorporated Kane County, prosecutors said. The vehicle was running and in gear.
Hansen, whose driver's license was revoked upon a prior DUI conviction, has an "extensive history of drunken driving," according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
He was credited for 378 days spent in the county jail while awaiting trial.
