Voters picked a Republican incumbent and a Democratic novice to serve as DuPage County Board members in District 1.

With all 118 precincts reporting, unofficial results show incumbent Paul Fichtner handily outpaced everyone else in the four-way race with 25,784 votes. Democratic challenger Rita Gonzalez tallied the second most votes with 23,255, narrowly edging out incumbent Yolanda Campuzano who totaled 22,518 votes. Democrat Rifat Sivisoglu finished with 9,613 votes.

Fichtner won his first county board race in 2004. The 47-year-old Elmhurst resident is chairman of the board's technology committee.

Gonzalez has unsuccessfully run for the office in the past. The 44-year-old resides in Addison and works as a cashier with the secretary of state.

The district includes all or parts of Addison, Bloomingdale, Elmhurst, Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca and Roselle.
