Randall Donley, a Republican from Union, won re-election in District 6 McHenry County Board.

Ersel Schuster, a former board member and a Republican from Woodstock, also won a seat in District 6, beating out Democratic challengers Robert Ludwig and Daryl Frank. Donley earned 11,406 votes, followed by Schuster with 9,558 votes, Frank with 8,691 votes and Ludwig with 7,805 votes, according to unofficial totals.

During the campaign, the District 6 candidates clashed over water management, with Donley pointing to existing efforts and Schuster backing an independent water authority.

"I'm just happy to be back on and prove myself in the next term," Donley said.
