Kendall County Forest Preserve President Kay Hatcher will take on a new job, after being elected state representative for the state 50th House District Tuesday.

The Yorkville Republican defeated Democrat Mary Schneider of Batavia and Green Party candidate Sandra Lezon of Plano.

Hatcher received 42,608 votes(58 percent), Schneider 28,771 (39 percent) and Lezon 2,520 (3 percent) in unofficial vote results.

The new representative will take over Patricia Reid Lindner's post. Lindner, a Republican, has served since 1993.

The district serves parts of Kendall, Kane and LaSalle counties.
