Longtime Kane County Auditor William Keck was re-elected to a fifth term Tuesday over Democratic challenger Thomas Sandor.

Keck, 69, a Sugar Grove Republican, received 87,077 votes to Sandor's 78,723 with all 299 precincts reporting in Kane County and Aurora Township, according to unofficial results.

Keck campaigned as a "watchdog for responsible government" who would draw on his 16 years of experience as auditor to keep Kane County financially healthy.

Sandor, 58, an accountant and former Elgin alderman, had vowed to "revitalize" the office, which he claimed was "increasingly ineffective" under Keck.
