Republican incumbent Marsha Murphy retained her DuPage County Forest Preserve District 1 seat.

With all 118 precincts reporting, unofficial results show Murphy defeated Democratic challenger Michael Braun with 54 percent of the vote.

Murphy has been a forest preserve commissioner since 2002. She was previously an Addison Township trustee.

The 60-year-old administrative assistant lives in Addison. She said the forest preserve board should continue buying properties that help prevent flooding by creating a natural buffer.

The district includes all or parts of Addison, Bloomingdale, Elmhurst, Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca and Roselle.
