Challenger Mihalec wins in Kane District 18
Kane County Board District 18 Republican incumbent Don Wolfe lost by a 10 percent margin to Democratic challenger Jeanette Mihalec, according to unofficial totals. Mihalec received 2,739 votes to Wolfe's 2,129.
Improving the relationship between Elgin and Kane County was one of the major focuses of Mihalec's campaign. She said Monday that she expected the race to be close. "This area has a lot of conservative spots in it. I campaigned heavily in those areas, too, and just hoped for the best," she said.
Wolfe has held office since 1996. The 18th district covers parts of Elgin west of the Fox River, north of Route 20, east of McLean Boulevard and south of Airport and Davis roads near Interstate 90.
