Republican incumbent John J. Hoscheit of St. Charles, 49, trounced Democratic challenger Ronald Spychalski, 68, of St. Charles Tuesday in a race for the Kane County Board seat in District 12.

Hoscheit won by a margin of 5,474 votes to 2,290 in unofficial results with nearly 65 percent of the vote.

He heads the county forest preserve commission and has worked on land preservation issues. Hoscheit told residents he wanted to continue a policy of fiscal responsibility and continue to lower taxes.

Spychalski, a Democratic committeeman, said he wanted to establish parks for special needs children and stop wasteful spending.
