Incumbent Democrat Hollie Kissane hung onto her Kane County Board seat, fending off a challenge from Republican Kay Teeter in the 24th District contest.

According to unofficial vote totals, Kissane received 2,008 votes to Teeter's 879.

Kissane said it was her record of fighting for Carpentersville that gave her the edge.

"They know I'll work hard for them," she said.

Both women made local transportation the hallmark of their campaigns.

Kissane even said she was seeking re-election to see to fruition the Longmeadow Parkway project, a 5.6-mile roadway that would offer a straight shot over the Fox River between Route 25 and Randall Road.

The 24th District includes a northeastern portion of Carpentersville and a slice of Barrington Hills.
