W.W. Grainger posts quarterly earnings

LAKE FOREST - Industrial supplier W.W. Grainger Inc. posted higher quarterly earnings on Tuesday and reiterated its 2008 outlook, citing market share gains that fueled sales growth.
Net income in the second quarter rose 8 percent to $113 million, or $1.43 per share, from $105 million, or $1.21 per share, a year earlier. Excluding the effect of the provision for a legal reserve, earnings per share were $1.48.
