Despite snow, White Sox preparing to play baseball today at Guaranteed Rate

While cautioning that the start of today's game is "subject to change," the Chicago White Sox are still preparing to play baseball this afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The Sox are scheduled to host the Tampa Bay Rays for a 1:10 p.m. contest. Because this is Tampa's only trip to Chicago this season, the White Sox apparently want to avoid playing a doubleheader on Tuesday night, and the Rays are scheduled to fly out after Wednesday's day game so that is not an option.

The Cubs, taking advantage of a day off on Tuesday, decided to postpone their home opener on Monday until 1:20 p.m. Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

White Sox officials posted video on Twitter of Sox players tossing snowballs on the field Monday morning, and posted photos of Roger Bossert's grounds crew clearing snow from the field. Their tweet: "Roger is confident everything will be good to go!"

Miguel Gonzalez is scheduled to pitch for the White Sox against Tampa's Chris Archer.
