Kane reaches milestone in Chicago Blackhawks' loss

Almost lost in the Chicago Blackhawks' 7-3 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday was the fact that Patrick Kane reached an impressive milestone by recording his 800th career point.

Kane scored twice and added an assist against New York. He became the 16th American-born player to hit 800 on his third-period goal that cut the Isles' lead to 5-3.

"He's an impressive player," teammate Brandon Saad said. "It's something where every day being around him you see how confident he is. It really doesn't matter who he's playing with."

Only four other Hawks have had more than 800 points: Stan Mikita (1,467), Bobby Hull (1,153), Denis Savard (1,096) and Steve Larmer (923). At his current pace, Kane would pass Larmer either late next season or early in the 2019-20 campaign.

Kane has 20 goals this season, a number he has hit for 11 straight seasons.

Anisimov returns:

After missing 10 games with an upper-body injury, Artem Anisimov will return to the lineup Monday night when the Hawks host Tampa Bay. At practice Sunday, Anisimov centered the third line with Alex DeBrincat and Ryan Hartman as his wingers.

"Just watching the game it's hard (sitting) in the press box and watching knowing you can't be there," Anisimov said. "But you need to be smart about the injury and get healthy and ready to go."

Anisimov, who has 13 goals and 5 assists in 36 games, admitted his conditioning might be a little off, but "you just need to play the game and it's going to come."

Forsling to Rockford:

Gustav Forsling, with a minus-5 rating in the last five games, was assigned to Rockford. The 21-year-old Swede had a rough game Saturday against the Islanders.

Connor Murphy and Michal Kempny, healthy scratches against New York, will be paired together against the Lightning. Jan Rutta (minus-4 vs. the Isles) will sit.

At practice Sunday, the fourth line consisted of Tomas Jurco, David Kampf and Vinnie Hinostroza. Lance Bouma and Tommy Wingels were outside the top 12 forwards.

Back to Glass:

After watching Anton Forsberg allow 5 goals on 35 shots Saturday, coach Joel Quenneville said he will start Jeff Glass when the Hawks play Tampa Bay.

"They've both given us a chance," Quenneville said. "Last night we didn't give either of them a chance; it was one of those nights. But they've been pretty consistent in a lot of ways, and that's what we're looking for."

Glass is 3-2-1 with a .905 save percentage and 3.34 goals-against average.
