Boomers win third straight

The East Division champion Schaumburg Boomers came from behind to capture a third consecutive win, beating the Lake Erie Crushers 4-2 at Boomers Stadium.

Lake Erie got on the board with a second inning sacrifice fly off the bat from Connor Oliver. Schaumburg stormed back in the third with a pair of runs. Zach Weigel drove in the first with a single center, then Rock Shoulders followed two hitters later with an RBI walk. In the fourth, the Boomers would strike for two more. Kyle Ruchim drove in a pair of runs with a long single. Lake Erie would tack on another sacrifice fly, but that caps the scoring.

On the mound, Joe Hauser pitched his way to 7 innings of 2-run baseball, both runs unearned. The right-hander struck out 7 while allowing 3 hits and a couple of walks to earn the win. Evan Boyd pitched a perfect eighth. Jake Joyce shut the door in the ninth to earn his 14th save. Nick Deeg pitched for Lake Erie, taking the loss after allowing 4 runs in five innings.
