Stephanie Penick's passion for history, volunteerism, public policy, nostalgia, cultural attractions and the arts were met with many opportunities when she moved to Naperville in 1993. She became an active volunteer and served an 18-month stint doing public relations for the Naper Settlement. She was a prolific writer of press releases on many topics, and in 1999, Daily Herald DuPage City Editor Bob Smith asked Stephanie to write a column about the goings-on in Naperville.

She has been involved in the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Naperville Visitors Bureau and parent organizations when her children attended Indian Prairie Unit District 204 schools. Stephanie also served on a variety of local boards and fundraising campaigns. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Naperville/Downtown and a founding member of the Riverwalk Foundation.
