Police investigating death of 11-year-old Glenview girl

Glenview police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old girl who suffered a medical emergency Saturday at the Glenview Park Center.

According to police and officials with the Glenview Park District, officers responded at 2:22 p.m. to a call for ambulance assistance at the fitness center, 2400 Chestnut Ave.

The Glenview girl was conscious and responsive when paramedics arrived at the center, park district officials said. After being taken to Glenbrook Hospital, she died at 3:50 p.m., according to police.

Her death is being investigated by the Glenview Police Department and the Cook County medical examiner's office, officials said. An autopsy was conducted Sunday, but a determination of cause of death is pending. Police said foul play is not suspected.

"We are all very saddened, and our thoughts and prayers go out to this little girl's family. This is a tragedy for the family and for the community," Glenview Park District Executive Director Michael McCarty said in a statement Sunday.
