Driver killed in Lake Zurich crash identified

The driver killed in a one-car crash early Monday morning in Lake Zurich has been identified by the Lake County coroner as a 39-year-old Lake Zurich man.

Tyler Wills died as a result of blunt force trauma he sustained in the crash, according to a news release issued Tuesday by Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek. Banek's office performed an autopsy on Wills Tuesday morning.

Lake Zurich police said Monday a 2011 Ford sedan was traveling south on Lions Drive when the driver lost control. The vehicle crashed into two electrical boxes and a brick wall near village hall at 70 E. Main St.

Wills was the only person in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash knocked out power to village hall and the building was closed Monday. Kyle Kordell, assistant to the village manager, said power was restored to the building around 7 p.m., and village hall was open as normal Tuesday.

Lake Zurich Police Deputy Chief David Anderson said the crash is being investigated by police and the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County.
