No injuries in Streamwood garage fire

No injuries were reported from a Tuesday evening garage fire in Streamwood.

Firefighters were called at 9:25 p.m. to a house on the 0-100 block of Plum Tree Court, according to a fire department report.

Upon arrival four minutes later, firefighters saw smoke coming from the garage door area. The residents of the house were outside when firefighters arrived and informed fire officials the car in the attached garage was on fire.

Firefighters cut open the garage door to make entry and quickly extinguished the blaze, the report stated.

Firefighters were on scene for more than two hours to ensure the fire hadn't spread to other parts of the house. A tow truck removed the damaged vehicle from the garage. The residents were allowed to return to the house for the night.

The cause of the fire was determined to be "heat from undetermined smoking material," according to the report.

Fire officials estimated the fire to have caused roughly $20,000 in damage to the contents of the garage.
