Propone-powered garbage truck explodes in Elk Grove fire
A fire and two explosions gutted a garbage truck Saturday at a Groot waste disposal plant in the 2500 block of Elk Grove Village.
The Elk Grove Village Fire Department got the call at 11:23 a.m. Saturday. The truck runs on propane gas, and that tank exploded in the flames, as did the truck's tires, said fire Lt. John Fordon.
The truck was destroyed, but no one was injured. The blaze was not suspicious, but the investigation into the cause continues, Fordon said.
