Prospect Heights post office reopens after crash

The Prospect Heights post office reopened Friday, a day after a vehicle struck the front of the building and led to its temporary closure.

A steady stream of customers with packages and letters on Friday morning were already back at the post office, located at 9 S. Elmhurst Road. The brick support column that was struck was removed and replaced with a temporary wooden post.

City officials restricted access to the building until they could inspect the structure and deem it safe for occupancy.

No injuries were reported.
