Former WBBM broadcast tower dismantled in Itasca

The former WBBM-AM broadcast tower in Itasca officially went radio silent Thursday after crews dismantled the structure in prepartion for a development project at the site near Rohlwing Road and Devon Avenue.

Nearly 700 feet tall, the tower was dismantled after 77 years as a transmitter site, WBBM reported.

WBBM Newsradio's new transmitter site is just off Army Trail Road in Bloomingdale at the same location as its sister station, WSCR (670 The Score).
