Man sentenced for Streamwood break-in, arson

A 34-year-old man who broke into a Streamwood home in January, stole several items and tried to light a mattress on fire pleaded guilty to residential burglary and arson, court records show.

In exchange for his guilty pleas, Sherzod Patidinov, of Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced to four years in prison with a recommendation for the Illinois Department of Corrections impact incarceration program, also known as boot camp.

Boot camp consists of military-style training, substance abuse counseling, life skills training and education. Candidates must be approved by the Department of Corrections and await an opening for the 120-day program. If an inmate is not admitted to boot camp or fails to complete the program, he or she must serve the rest of his or her sentence.

During Patidinov's bond hearing earlier this year, prosecutors said he left behind several items, including his driver's license, passport and an employee ID, linking him to the crime. One of the victims later identified him as a former family member, prosecutors said.

Patidinov received credit for 158 days in custody.
