Martin Luther King Dinner April 6 in Schaumburg

Former Chicago Bulls and NBA star Metta World Peace will be the guest honoree when the Arlington Heights-based Illinois Commission on Diversity & Human Relations hosts its 51st annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance & Commemoration Dinner.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Renaissance Hotel, 1551 N. Thoreau Drive in Schaumburg.

The musical group "Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago" is scheduled to perform at the dinner. Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, is scheduled to be the 2019 ICDHR / Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major Guest Honoree.

A keynote speaker is still being lined up.
