Gurnee man charged with promoting prostitution
A Gurnee man has been charged with promoting prostitution in Chicago, officials said.
Police searched an apartment Dec. 13 on the 3900 block of West Lawrence Avenue after learning it was used as a place of prostitution, according to a news release from the Cook County's sheriff's office. Deputies found two women there, and they received temporary housing and services through the sheriff's office, the release said.
An investigation by the sheriff's Vice Unit and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security found that Luis Zacarias-Ahumada, 39, operated the illegal enterprise and profited from the prostitution at the apartment, the release said.
Zacarias-Ahumada was taken into custody in Waukegan Dec. 13 and charged with two counts of promoting prostitution Dec. 14; his bond was set at $10,000 Saturday, the release said.
