Missing Downers Grove man found dead in pond

A Downers Grove man missing since late October has been found dead, police say.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Downers Grove police officers responded to a report of a vehicle in a retention pond near Interstate 355 and Ogden about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release.

Members of the Downers Grove Fire Department dive team located a black 2009 Toyota Camry and found the body of Abumere A. Eromon, 34, inside the vehicle, police said.

The circumstances surrounding Eromon's disappearance remain under investigation.

Police said Eromon was last seen leaving work in Aurora at 10:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, driving the Camry. Eromon's girlfriend called police about 40 minutes later and told investigators he had not returned home from work and she was concerned for his well-being, police said.
