Meze Mediterráneo restaurant opens in Schaumburg

Meze Mediterráneo, a casual dining restaurant inspired by the culinary regions along the Mediterranean Sea, announced Tuesday it's open for business at 680 Mall Drive in Schaumburg.

The new restaurant offers a selection of shared plates, seafood and prime steak accompanied by an extensive wine list.

It's located in the space previously occupied by Chef Vince's Zeal. That eatery closed earlier this year, announcing at the time that it was restructuring and remodeling in preparation for a new restaurant.

The 7,800-square-foot venue includes private event space for 10 to 200 guests, along with seasonal outdoor seating.

The venue's lounge features a grand seafood bar filled with selections flown in fresh each day. The restaurant also features cold-pressed juices using ingredients in keeping with its Mediterranean theme.

Meze's Michelin-scouted Executive Chef Tino Almaraz designed the menu, drawing upon influences gleaned from experiences with renowned French chef Jean Banchet, and his own tenure with Rosewood steakhouse and seafood restaurants.

The restaurant is celebrating its grand opening month by offering $15 pours of Caymus wine by the glass every Monday in October.
