Alpine Fest ends on a high note in Lake Zurich

Live music, a parade featuring dozens of entries and a chance to get up close and personal with some exotic creatures helped bring another Alpine Fest to a successful close Sunday in Lake Zurich.

The 76th edition of the Lions Club extravaganza kicked off Friday night with firefighter water fights and ended Sunday with a performance by the rock/pop group Semple Band, which is fronted by Keith Semple, a top-20 finalist of "The Voice."

In between, visitors could spend the weekend sampling food, trying out carnival rides and even checking out the unusual creatures that make up Dave DiNaso's Traveling World of Reptiles.
