DuPage County sheriff probing shooting death near Roselle

The DuPage County sheriff's office is investigating a fatal shooting in the area of Lake Street and Wheaton Road in an unincorporated area near Roselle, authorities said Monday.

Deputies began the investigation shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

The investigation is considered an isolated case and there is no danger to the public, authorities said,

"We have confirmed the person of interest in this death investigation left the area immediately after the incident," DuPage County Sheriff Sgt. Robert Harris said Monday afternoon. "Neither the deceased or the person of interest are from that area. No one is in custody."

Officials at the DuPage County Coroner's office referred all questions to the DuPage County state's attorney's office, which also declined to provide information.
