Mount Prospect woman killed in motorcycle crash

A 62-year-old Mount Prospect woman was killed Monday when a motorcycle she was riding on struck a curb along a North Barrington road, throwing her and the driver off the vehicle.

Lake County Sheriff's police said the woman was a passenger on a 2008 Harley-Davidson when its driver lost control of the bike when approaching a curve on westbound Miller Road, east of Oak Hills Road. The impact with the curb tossed the woman and driver, a 62-year-old man from Mount Prospect, from the motorcycle, authorities said.

The woman was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. She later was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver was treated and released from Condell. Both driver and passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, sheriff's police said.

The woman's identity will be released after an autopsy being conducted later today by the Lake County Coroner's Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
