Geneva man charged with DUI, fleeing police

A Geneva man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing police and resisting arrest, after a crash Saturday in Geneva and a chase to Sugar Grove.

Christopher J. Kinney, 24, of the 700 block of East State Street, was freed on a personal-recognizance bond at a court hearing Sunday.

According to Geneva police, Kinney was driving a black Chevrolet Cavalier south on Peck Road around 8:10 p.m. Traffic was stopped at a red light at Keslinger Road.

A Chevrolet Express was in the left-turn lane and started to move when the light turned green. Kinney passed on the left, sideswiped the front quarter-panel of the Express, then drove south to Fabyan Parkway, authorities said.

He hit a guardrail after turning west on Fabyan, but managed to drive his damaged vehicle - at one point seemingly on a rim or flat tire - to Bliss Road in Sugar Grove, authorities said.

Sugar Grove police tried to pull over Kinney north of the I-88 bridge, but he did not stop until he got to Route 47, where police had blocked the road, according to authorities.

A witness called police, followed him and recorded video, including Kinney's arrest. The video has been posted on the Radioman911TV channel on YouTube.

Kinney is also charged with driving an uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and improper lane use.
