Buffalo Grove honors longtime District 96 employee

The Buffalo Grove village board Monday honored longtime District 96 employee Pat Hannon on her retirement.

Hannon, who worked in the district for 41 years, began as a part-time clerical aide in 1977 at Kildeer Countryside and shortly after that became full-time school secretary. In 1991, she continued in that capacity at Ivy Hall, during which time the district changed her title to administrative assistant.

In 2001, she received the District 96 Foundation for Education Excellence Crystal Apple Award: The Frank Rosas Red Schoolhouse Award for noncertified staff. The award is given to an employee who consistently goes beyond the call of duty.

Hannon has been a Buffalo Grove resident for 46 years. Six of her children attended District 96 schools.
