Some Batavia public works employees will be getting 2.75 percent raises in two labor contracts the city council approved Monday.

The contract covers street department laborers, maintenance workers, mechanics and crew leaders, as well as electric department linemen and crew leaders.

Both groups are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 96.

With the pay change, full-time laborers will make $43,478 to $51,052 a year; maintenance workers, $53,159 to $73,297; mechanics, $58,052 to $80,043; and crew leaders, $70,570 to $87,425.

Full-time linemen will be paid $110,280 annually, and electric crew leaders $117,930 a year. Apprentices will start at $39.76 an hour, and max out at $50.37.

The contracts cover 26 workers and two apprentices.
