One injured in explosion at Downers Grove home

An explosion at a house on the south side of Downers Grove sent one man to the hospital and left the home structurally unsound Friday morning.

The explosion on the 7300 block of Hartford Road was first reported as a noise complaint around 11:40 a.m., but a Downers Grove police officer who arrived on the scene saw signs of an explosion and called the fire department. There were no flames or smoke, but there were clear signs of the explosion, according to a news release issued by the Downers Grove Fire Department.

The man, who was not identified, was rushed to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for his injuries.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
