Maine West employee put on leave during investigation

Maine Township High School District 207 is working with Des Plaines police to investigate a complaint about a staff member's contact with students.

That staff member has been placed on administrative leave.

The district issued a statement Friday saying that on Sunday, April 15, Maine West High School received information through the district's "Contact Us" notification system that a staff member had electronically sent "disturbing messages" to one or more students.

On April 16, school officials notified police and began working with authorities to investigate.

The district said Friday that new information prompted officials to place the staff member on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

"Maine Township High School District 207 takes seriously all complaints brought to our attention," the statement said.
