Police dispel rumors about Lisle High student charged with threatening classmates

Police in Lisle say they've investigated a series of false rumors that friends of a Lisle High School student who was charged with threatening his classmates Tuesday would carry through with his threats themselves.

The rumors, which spread through social media, were deemed false after police looked into them, according to a news release from the Lisle police department.

Although the rumors were found to be untrue, police said they'll have extra officers at the school Friday to "alleviate concern and provide additional security."

The student, who hasn't been identified publicly, is being held in DuPage County after some of his classmates reported he had threatened them Monday.

He faces a felony charge of disorderly conduct for making the threats, and is due in court Friday.
