Lisle High student charged with threatening classmates

A Lisle High School student faces a felony charge of disorderly conduct for making threatening comments to some classmates.

The juvenile appeared at a detention hearing Tuesday morning where DuPage County Judge Michael Wolfe ordered he be held until at least his next court appearance, which is scheduled for Friday.

Authorities said the teen made the threats on Monday and authorities, who were contacted by other students, took him into custody the same day.

"Any threat made against the safety and security of students, teachers and school personnel will be taken very seriously," DuPage State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. "Recently, we have seen an uptick of this type of behavior and with that in mind we must all be vigilant in our efforts to ensure that students, teachers and other school personnel never fear for their safety while at school.

"I would like to commend the students who came forward to authorities with this information. It is because of their actions a possible tragedy may have been averted."
