Skilling, Argonne director speaking at Sustainable Energy Expo in Palatine

WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling and Seth Darling, director of the Institute for Molecular Engineering at Argonne National Laboratory, will be the keynote speakers Saturday, at the Sustainable Energy Expo in Palatine.

The free event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. at Countryside Church, 1025 N. Smith St. Space is limited and tickets can be obtained in advance at SustainableEnergyExpo.eventbrite.com.

About 20 presenters and exhibitors are scheduled for the expo, including representatives from Citizens Climate Lobby, Hawk Energy Solutions, Elevate Energy, Citizens for Conservation, Palatine Cool City Committee and more. Workshops/exhibits include: Current Clean Energy Landscape in Illinois; How Countryside Church UU Did Solar; and ISEA's Solar House.

The event also celebrates completion of Countryside Church's solar energy project, including installation of 90 rooftop solar panels, making it just one of two houses of worship in the Northwest suburbs utilizing the sun's renewable energy.
