A 21-year-old Sauk Village woman has been charged with home invasion and aggravated battery after a 51-year-old Buffalo Grove woman was battered, police said Friday in a news release.

Justice Murphy was arrested inside a home on the 400 block of St. Mary's Parkway about 4:30 p.m. Thursday after the resident fled to a neighbor's home and called 911, police said.

Both the resident and Murphy were taken by Buffalo Grove paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. The resident was later released. Murphy remains hospitalized for observation.

Investigators found that Murphy was visiting members of her family in Buffalo Grove before the encounter but had had no contact or relationship with the victim before the attack, according to the news release.

Murphy, of the 2900 block of 244th place in Sauk Village, also was charged with criminal damage to property. The investigation is continuing.
