League hosts forum March 12 on Northwest suburban referendums

The League of Women Voters of the Arlington Heights-Mount Prospect-Buffalo Grove Areas, including Wheeling-Prospect Heights-Elk Grove Village, will be host a "Lunch and Learn" event Monday, March 12, to provide information about three referendums on the March 20 ballot.

The event takes place from noon until 1:45 p.m. at Outback Steakhouse, 909 N. Elmhurst Road, in Mount Prospect. Speakers will begin at 12:30.

Fire Chief Drew Smith will address the Prospect Heights Fire District Referendum. Immediately following, Sann Knipple will address the ballot referendum for Mount Prospect School District 57. And at 1 p.m., Cook County Commissioner Timothy Schneider will answer questions about the nonbinding referendum to legalize recreational marijuana in Cook County.

"Important funding referendums and advisory questions appear on the primary ballot. Get informed and vote! It's our duty and our privilege as Americans," said Hilary Denk, co-chairwoman of the league's Issues and Advocacy Committee.

The Lunch and Learn series is free to the public and no ticket is necessary to attend. For more information on this forum, voter registration and polling information go to www.lwvah.org.
