Hoffman Estates house fire causes $150,000 damage

Hoffman Estates firefighters are investigating the cause of fire that caused an estimated $150,000 worth of damage to a single-family home on the 900 block of Rosedale Lane Thursday.

The fire department received the call at 8:51 p.m. and all occupants of the home had safely evacuated before crews arrived.

Smoke was showing from the rear of the home and a heavy fire was found inside on the lower level there. The rear door was forced open and the fire extinguished.

Hoffman Estates responded with 23 firefighters and received assistance from police, Streamwood firefighters, ComEd and Nicor. Fire station coverage was provided by Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Elgin and the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District.

The home did not have working smoke detectors.
