Join Memory Cafe for monthly meetings in Batavia

Pet therapy for seniors is the feature presentation when the Memory Cafe Fox Valley meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Newton Room of the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

The demonstration of pet therapy for seniors is for those with memory issues. It will be led by Kathy and Stan Smith along with their English cocker spaniels, Wrigley and Cubby. The Smiths and their dogs have worked on programs through the Naperville Area Humane Society, including Paws for Tales, a reading activity for children at schools and libraries, and pet therapy at retirement homes and senior groups.

The Memory Cafe meetings are informal gatherings where people with memory issues along with their spouses and/or caregivers, can connect with others in similar situations. The group has grown to between 25 and 30 participants and has met monthly since February 2016. Newcomers are welcome.
