Adventure awaits at 18th annual Caring Hearts Gala

Travelers from around the world will fill the ballroom to benefit the Palatine Township Senior Center at the 18th annual Caring Hearts Gala, "Around the World, Adventure Awaits" from 6-11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at The Cotillion, 360 S. Creekside Drive, in Palatine.

Be sure to bring your fully charged smartphone or tablet to bid on the excellent silent or live auction items or to donate to Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council. Enjoy the "Selfie Station" with a world map and travel props to make you feel like you are truly ready to travel the world.

Dance the night away to the live music of The Romantiques. Come hear about the work that the Palatine Township Senior Center is doing in Palatine Township and surrounding communities.

You will have a great opportunity to win a trip. Trip raffle tickets are available for presale or at the event for $100, and the winner can choose one of three pre-chosen trips: Puntacana, New Orleans or Tuscany. Or try your luck on the cash raffle. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25, with cash prizes of $500, $150 and $50.

More than 55 silent auction items will be available to bid on, including sporting events, golf packages, artwork, family fun and date nights, to name a few. Live auction items include a White Sox package, Disney Park Hopper tickets, and Winner's Choice of a signed Blackhawks, Cubs, or Bulls jersey.

This black tie or costume optional event includes open bar, hors d'oeuvres, a four course dinner, and dancing to live music. Tickets to attend are $125 per person and can be purchased at the Palatine Township Senior Center, 505 S. Quentin Road, Palatine.

The Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council operates the Palatine Township Senior Center, a private, nonprofit organization, providing innovative, quality, cost-effective services to adults ages 50 and better in Palatine Township and Chicago's Northwest suburbs for more than 40 years.

Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council is one of only three senior centers in Illinois that are accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers. Its mission is to provide programs and services that support older adults and their families by encouraging independence, well-being, and connection to the community.

The Recreation, Education, Health and Wellness, Noon Dining, Home Delivered Meals, Adult Day Services, and Social Services programs are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Services are available in English, Spanish and Russian at six satellite locations. The Social Services staff also makes home visits as needed.

Senior centers provide a place for older adults to pursue personal interests; to enhance physical, emotional and intellectual well-being; to validate self-worth and human dignity; to celebrate life experiences; receive needed social services; maintain their independence and connection to the community, and to be of value to others.
