Elgin police searching for men who tried to lure girl into van

The Elgin Police Department is searching for two men who tried to lure a 10-year-old girl into their van around 3 p.m. Tuesday.
The 10-year-old girl was walking home from school near Logan and Lincoln avenues when she saw a light blue van. The two men inside, who appeared to be Hispanic and in their 20s or 30s, waved her down in what appeared to be an effort to have her approach the van.
Instead, the girl flagged down a passing school bus, which stopped to help.
Anyone with information about the men should call Elgin police at (847) 289-2600. Tips can be made anonymously by texting 847411 and including ELGINPD in the beginning of the message.
