Elk Grove finishes $6.6 million public works upgrade

Elk Grove Village has finished a $6.6 million project to renovate its public works facility.

The village held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week marking the completion of upgrades to the facility at 1635 Biesterfield Road.

Improvements included a facade overhaul, interior renovations to the 37-year-old building, a new salt barn and more storage space. A small plant nursery also is planned for the site.

The renovation is the first project of the village's Elk Grove 2025 infrastructure plan.

Other projects included in the eight-year overhaul include a two new fire stations, a public works facility, road and drainage improvements and pedestrian paths.
