Bail set for Waukegan man who was shot by police officer

A Waukegan man who was shot by Waukegan police last month has been released from the hospital and is now being held in the Lake County jail.

According to a news release, Edward Prado, 27, was released from medical care on Tuesday and was taken to court for a bond hearing on charges of aggravated robbery, attempting to disarm a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, and aggravated assault,

Authorities allege that on Dec. 26, Prado arrived at the Waukegan Police Department in a stolen vehicle and demanded a police officer's firearm. Prado pointed a BB gun at the officer, who shot him, the news release said.

Bail for Prado was set at $150,000. He has a Feb. 7 court date.

This case is being investigated by the Illinois State Police.
