Glendale Heights couple charged in dog's death

A Glendale Heights couple is facing charges after their dog was found dead, Northlake police said.

Jonathan Flores-Barona, 26, and his wife, Monica Alanas, 21, of the 400 block of Gregory Avenue, Glendale Heights, had an argument on Dec. 28, police said, and Flores-Barona took Alanas' belongings and the family dog to a home in Northlake.

The next morning, the 1½-year-old Shih Tzu, who had been left on the porch overnight, was found dead, police said. Flores-Barona and Alanas both are charged with cruel treatment of an animal; they are scheduled to appear in court Feb. 20 in Maywood.
