No injuries reported in Elgin home fire

No one was hurt in a fire at an Elgin home Monday evening, officials said.

Crews responded around 7:20 p.m. to a home on the 2100 block of Valley Creek Drive, where family members discovered a fire on the second floor after they smelled smoke, according to a news release from the Elgin Fire Department.

The fire did not spread from the room where it started and was extinguished in about five minutes, the release said.

There were not working smoke detectors in the home, the release said.
